About Jeremy

I started training in martial arts just after my 40th birthday. I’d always been curious about it but assumed I wasn’t built for it—I thought I lacked the coordination. Years later, when our daughter began studying with Professor Rocky DiRico, I started learning forms from the sidelines so I could help her practice. Before long, I realized how much I enjoyed it, and I joined as a white belt. I’ve been training ever since and earned my 4th-degree black belt in 2025. I also study Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu with Sensei Tom Duffy at the Rhode Island Budo Club.

Early in my training, I was recovering from significant back injuries. Martial arts became a key part of that recovery, teaching me how to modify movements, strengthen gradually, and train in a way that worked for my body. I bring that perspective into my teaching—helping each student find a path that’s challenging, supportive, and sustainable.

I’ve competed in many tournaments—not for the medals, but to push outside my comfort zone and learn from other martial artists. I especially enjoy seeing the quiet precision of older black belts, and I try to bring that same focus and presence to my own practice.

Off the mat, I work as a team facilitator and educator in the software world. I’ve been designing digital products for over 30 years, speak at conferences around the world, and have been a guest lecturer at Harvard Business School. I live in Arlington with my wife, Sharona, and our daughter, Lilia.
